André Lewis Carter is a Navy retiree who writes fiction, poetry, essays, and plays in the urban sprawl of Portland, Oregon. André's debut novel will be published January 4, 2022. He is a reader for Hippocampus Magazine & Books and Kaylie Jones Books. His work recently appeared in "Soft Cartel," "Page and Spine," and "Down in the Dirt." His poetry has appeared in "The Journal of Graduate Liberal Studies," and the one act play, "Reaction," was staged at the Last Theater Conference in Valdez, AK. André holds a M.A. in fiction writing and a M.F.A. in creative writing from the Wilkes University Graduate Creative Writing Program where he was a Beverly Blakeslee Hiscox Scholar. He is married to a very patient woman who occasionally tells dirty jokes.

Desperate, he enlists into a Navy in transition where he seeks to find redemption in a world he didn't know existed.
