About

Barbara Stratyner writes about the performing and visual arts and history -- for publications and museum exhibitions. For the last 25 years, she served as Rosenberg Curator of Exhibitions, at The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts. Her over 80 exhibitions have been shown at Lincoln Center, across the country and in Taiwan and China. She has written monographs and books on popular entertainment, book chapters, and articles for a variety of popular and scholarly publications, as well as her nypl.org staff blogs. She now blogs as outsidethemuseumblog on Wordpress. She is an active advocate for diversity, accessibility, inclusion, and social justice in the museum field. Her current project is a study of photographer Florence Vandamm who documented performance in London and New York, 1908 - 1960.
