Marlene is a writer of novels, personal essays, and screenplays. She is also a freelance book editor working on novels, memoirs and screenplays. She often works with first-time authors.

Her debut novel "Sophie Last Seen" will be published by Red Adept Publishing in late 2018.

She worked for over twenty years as an executive in feature film and television development for a variety of top Hollywood production companies: Wind Dancer Films, Fine Line Features, The Zanuck Company, and The Samuel Goldwyn Company. Marlene was involved in the development of such films as: Driving Miss Daisy, Rush, Mystic Pizza to name a few.

Her short fiction and essays have appeared on: Longreads, Manifeststation.com, Rewireme.com, Talkingwriting.com and in print publications: Upstate House, Prima Materia, Mars Hill Review, and The Madison Review.

She has been awarded residencies to Yaddo, MacDowell Colony, Vermont Studio Center, The Millay Colony, The Wurlitzer Foundation, Fundacion Valpairiso, and Robert M MacNamara Foundation.

Marlene attended New York University where she received her B.F.A. in film. She lives in New York’s Hudson Valley where she has her own freelance editorial business.
