David Small has previously published three novels. ALMOST FAMOUS was a finalist for the National Book Award, first novel category; THE RIVER IN WINTER was selected by the New York Times as one of its Notable Books of the Year, as was his third book, ALONE. He recently published his fourth and fifth books, MORE OF EVERYTHING: A Love Story and Lie to Me. A Guggenheim Fellow, Small was born in Gardiner, Maine, and raised in New York and Pennsylvania, but his spiritual home has always been his grandparents’ house on Dennison Avenue in Freeport, Maine. He currently lives outside of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, with his wife, Jemry, and a cat named Captain Cloudy.
Lie to Me
Lie to Me is a story about a young man who marries into what might be a clan of gangsters. Strange things happen: people disappear, bodies wash up on beaches. All coincidence, or orchestrated by his unlikely, but powerful father-in-law? As always David's work is also about families and the different definitions we have about them.
