About

Guy Muller is a publishing attorney and the founder of Muller Media Law, a boutique pre-publication legal review practice for authors. He reviews manuscripts for defamation, invasion of privacy, right of publicity, and conflicts with the author’s own agreements, and delivers a marked manuscript with suggested revisions, a follow-up review, and an attorney review letter the author can hand to a publisher, printer, distributor, or insurer. He also reviews and negotiates publishing, distribution, ghostwriter, and collaborator agreements. Fees are flat and published at mullermedialaw.com.

How working with me goes: book a free 30-minute call online, get a flat-fee quote with your start and delivery dates in writing, sign electronically, pay by card or over time, and get an email update at every stage of the review. Your findings come back as a roadmap, tracked changes in your own manuscript, and a clearance letter you can share. A standard review typically runs 15 to 20 business days. I use technology under my supervision to organize and analyze your manuscript, on terms that never allow it to be used for training, and I make every legal decision and judgment myself.

Before opening his practice, Guy was General Counsel of Greenleaf Book Group for over four years. Greenleaf publishes hundreds of books a year across seven imprints, including co-branded imprints with Inc., Fast Company, Kiplinger, Family Business Magazine, and Wonderwell, and every manuscript the house released during his tenure went through the legal review process he built and ran. He wrote the clearance standards, trained the editors who applied them, and made the publisher’s decisions on what could be safely published and on what conditions. He has twice been a guest on Greenleaf’s podcast on legal risk in publishing.

Earlier, he was Associate General Counsel at a technology company, drafting the master services agreements, NDAs, and indemnification and non-disparagement clauses that business books tend to collide with. He is also a plaintiff’s trial lawyer, which is how he reads a manuscript: the way opposing counsel would.

Muller Media Law represents authors only. He is licensed in Texas and reviews manuscripts for authors nationwide. He lives in San Antonio with his wife and two kids, and when he isn’t reading manuscripts or keeping up with his kids, he’s producing music in his home studio, gardening, or smoking a brisket.
