THE BROKEN ENGAGEMENT CLUB
Kathryn relishes her newly perfect life—successful career as a midlist romance author, engaged to the love of her life, and ready to embrace motherhood—until her fiancé dumps her out of the blue. Now, inching closer to the big 4-0 and farther away from her dreams, she joins the Broken Engagement Club, a ragtag support group for the broken-hearted. In this eclectic group, Kathryn finds kindred spirits, putting their lives back together through hair-raising misadventures. They talk her into the wildest switch-up for her life plan: ditch the husband part and opt for the baby experience instead! What could possibly go wrong?
Everything! Especially when the IVF treatments succeed and the test stick turns a delightful blue, she finds the perfect man at the worst possible time in Anders von Olsson, a charming and handsome Swedish romantasy author. To make matters worse, her ex returns, complicating her life on both the personal and professional level. Now, with difficult decisions to face, what and whom will Kathryn want? And will the wrong choice jeopardise the friendships she has come to treasure or stall the part of her dreams that have nothing to do with love, marriage, or a baby carriage?
Longlisted for the Mslexia Novel Competition 2025, The Broken Engagement Club has popular reader touchstones like found family, messy choices, and unlikely friendships, appealing to readers who love books such as The F**k It! List, Cat Lady, The Wedding People, or The Authenticity Project.
