About

A.M. Hayes is a Maine writer of humorous personal essays and fiction. Her work explores relationships, reinvention, and the strange things people do while trying to connect with one another.

She is writing Dating Over 50: The Clearance Rack of Modern Romance, a candid and self-aware collection about dating and intimacy in midlife. She is also developing Bird Borough, a realistic woodland world set in central Maine, and writing its first novel, The Whispering Woods.

Before turning to writing, Hayes worked in operations, construction, and real estate. She brings that experience—and a healthy appreciation for life’s absurdities—to the page. She lives in Maine and is a member of the Maine Writers & Publishers Alliance.
