I’ve spent much of my working life in technology, building things, solving problems and occasionally wondering why somebody thought the problem needed solving in the first place. Writing has travelled alongside that career for rather longer than I care to admit.

My fiction wanders across history, speculative fiction and the rather inconvenient territory between the two. I tend to write about people rather than heroes: people with loyalties, prejudices, responsibilities and an unfortunate habit of discovering that right and wrong become considerably less obvious when viewed from the other side.

My works include Jano, The Strength of the House and The Street Had No Name. They began as quite separate stories before I discovered, somewhat to my surprise, that they shared rather more of a universe than I had originally intended.

I live and write in Australia. When I’m not writing, I’m still involved with technology, although these days I’m increasingly inclined to believe that an afternoon spent staring at the sea while thinking about people who don’t exist constitutes productive work.
