About
Kat Kennan is a New York City-based writer, poet, and author whose work explores family, identity, trauma, love, and the complicated ways people survive one another.
She is currently seeking representation for The Unmaking of Kristina Kelley, a multigenerational family saga she first began writing nearly thirty years ago and has been stubbornly, lovingly carrying with her ever since. It is the first novel in a planned trilogy.
Kat is also the author of several independently published books, including the poetry collection The World Is on Fire, and I Write Anyway. She writes about fiction, the writing life, creativity, trauma, and the strange archaeology of becoming an author on her Substack, Every Ghost Has an Author.
Before turning her focus fully to writing, Kat spent more than two decades as a marketing executive and entrepreneur. She lives in New York City with her family and a small criminal syndicate of cats.
