About

L. C. Atencio was born and raised in South America with a privileged upbringing, experiencing a rich lifestyle that only approximately 1% of the population ever gets to enjoy. At the onset of his adolescence, he became critically ill—his skin and eyes turned yellow, his body grew severely weak, and he wasn’t physically capable of attending school. Fearing that he had a contagious disease, Atencio was quarantined in his childhood bedroom for months, where nurses and doctors came on-site in isolation gowns to run tests and administer treatments. Away from his brothers and friends, he spent his time writing a made-up tale to mentally escape his solitude. Throughout his life, he often revisited this tale and made several drafts of it; some were written while he was rich, and some were written later on in his adult life when he was counting pennies, on the brink of homelessness. The Silver House: A Manuscript in Progress is the result of one of the final drafts, written when Atencio was far older and no longer living in poverty, after graduating from the University of Central Florida with a bachelor’s degree in the field of Arts and Humanities, and after achieving over 100 successful printed publications to his name in the literary field.

His stories, poems, and fine art have been featured in print in a myriad of forms, such as in magazines, anthologies, college journals, mainstream and underground journals, including, but not limited to: Space and Time: The Magazine of Fantasy, Horror and Science Fiction, Issue 123, Nota Bene: Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society Anthology, Literary Excellence, 2012, The Mythic Circle: Fantasy Fiction, Poetry and Artwork (published by the Mythopoeic Society, celebrating authors like J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, H.G. Wells, Homer, J.K. Rowling, Stephenie Meyer, Ursula K. Le Guin, Rick Riordan, Philip Pullman, Christopher Paolini, and Stephen King), Issues 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 46, and 47, Grey Sparrow Journal, 2012, and others. You can find him kayaking down gator-infested waters at “Shingle Creek” near his home (or visit www.LcAtencio.com). Currently a fine art painter and novelist, L. C. Atencio was a successful instrumental musician, actor, singer, and short story writer in South America before migrating to the United States. He lives in Kissimmee, Florida, with his pet sugar glider, Joe.
