Terrence P. Dwyer, retired from a 22-year career with the New York State Police, is an attorney and professor teaching legal studies at Western Connecticut State University, as well as an author and playwright. He is a Gold Medallion Award winner in nonfiction from the Public Safety Writers Association, a Madeline Meredith Award winner for Excellence in Writing, and a featured columnist for Police1.com. The author of three law textbooks, his first commercial book, a memoir titled The Badge Between Us: Duty, Marriage, and Family, was released in February 2026 by Bloomsbury Publishing. He is also a member of the Dramatist's Guild, Mystery Writers of America, Crime Writers Association, Textbook and Academic Authors Association. Terry holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Wilkes University.
