B.D. Loggins, a Black bisexual archivist, writes under a pen name that embodies her identity and heritage—B.D. for Birdie, her childhood nickname, and Loggins from her maternal lineage. She jokingly adds it’s a playful triumph over her grandfather, C.E. Loggins.

As the first Black curator at the J. Paul Getty Museum, Loggins specializes in metadata, uncovering forgotten histories and tracing their provenance. An AAMC Propel Fellow and active member of ALA and SAA, she crafts stories blending Southern Gothic horror with speculative fantasy, drawing creative energy from her ADHD, which infuses her prose with urgency and an instinct for what’s often overlooked. Based in Los Angeles, she shares her voice online at @mutedfiligree and @hermutedarchive.
