About
I was raised on a farm in Kansas and went to a high school of 21 students my senior year. After graduating from Kansas State University, I went to Vietnam in 1961 as an agricultural volunteer for an organization the Peace Corps was patterned after. I spent 6 years in Vietnam, the last 3 1/2 years working for the U.S. Agency for International Development. After returning to this country and obtaining a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Pittsburgh, I worked mostly for the U. S. government. I headed up the regional office of Refugee Resettlement starting with the arrival of Southeast Asian refugees in the 1980's. Another important period was working as a contract employee for the Office of Refugee Resettlement in Washington, D. C. During this 12 years, I started and managed the Refugee Agricultural Partnership program. I have set foot in approximately 35 different countries. Most of the countries visited were in Asia and the Middle East. I have written a book, "The Not So Ordinary People On the Roads I Have Travelled". The book is a combination memoir and the recognition of 50 singles or couples that were important in my life.

The Not So Ordinary People on the Roads I've Travelled
The book fulfills two objectives. The first is recognition of people from my parents and neighbors growing up to people in Vietnam and the other parts of my career. The second describes interaction and the influence of these individuals on me and my life. Many lessons were learned, including the importance in life of honesty, humility, humor and humanity.
