Eyewitnesses III- Uncelebrated Women of the Bible
This is my third volume in the “Eyewitnesses” series. Volume 1 focused on events in the life of Jesus, Volume 2 focused on Special Events in the Old Testament. This volume (III) takes a slightly different turn. I decided to focus on mostly obscure Women in both the Old and New Testament who had an impact on the Christian Faith. The 14 chapters focus on 7 Old Testament figures and 7 New Testament figures.
While some like Sarah and Hagar may be familiar. I think very few readers are familiar with women like Shiprah and Puah, who were Midwives for the Pharoah, and played a major role in the establishment of Israel! Or Vashti, the Queen who decided not to show up for her husband like a sex object (and was late replaced by Esther.). In the New Testament, the name “Procula” is never mentioned, but this was Pontius Pilate’s wife who challenged his conscience.
Throughout scripture, unheralded women have made a difference; just like they do in modern life, today! I believe this a good read to put the role of women in scripture in the proper perspective.
