About
Shane M. Dargan
Author | Poet | Storyteller | Founder, Echoes of Life LLC
Some people discover their calling early in life. Others arrive at it after a lifetime of experiences worth sharing.
For Shane M. Dargan, becoming an author was not the beginning of his story. It was the beginning of a new chapter.
Born and raised in East Orange, New Jersey, Shane grew up surrounded by family, stories, and experiences that would eventually shape his understanding of the world. His journey would take him from the streets of East Orange to a successful 35-year career in corporate finance, including international assignments and leadership responsibilities that broadened his perspective on people, cultures, and the human experience.
A graduate of Montclair State University with a degree in psychology, Shane has long been fascinated by what makes people who they are: the decisions they make, the relationships they build, the challenges they overcome, and the memories they carry.
That curiosity eventually found its expression in writing.
Today, Shane is the author of six published books spanning poetry, inspirational nonfiction, and children's literature.
His debut collection, The Weight of Quiet Things, explores the emotions we carry but rarely express, offering reflections on love, loss, resilience, and the quiet complexities of being human.
In 100 Things That Make Life Worth Living, Shane turns his attention to the people, experiences, and everyday moments that give life its richness and meaning. The book reflects a philosophy shaped by decades of living, learning, loving, and understanding that some of life's greatest treasures are often its simplest.
His granddaughter, Milan, inspired another chapter of his literary journey. Through The Milan Series, including Milan and the Missing Button, Milan and the Purple Giraffe Blanket, and their companion coloring books, Shane celebrates childhood imagination, family connections, and the wonder of seeing the world through a child's eyes.
But Shane's creative ambitions extend beyond his published work. His forthcoming Heavy Thoughts series examines identity, consciousness, self-reflection, and the questions that challenge our understanding of ourselves. He is also developing psychological thrillers that explore the more mysterious and unpredictable dimensions of human behavior.
For Shane, writing is not simply about publishing books. It is about preserving memories, exploring difficult truths, celebrating the people who shape our lives, and creating something meaningful that can endure beyond our own lifetimes.
A member of the Authors Guild and the Poetry Society of America, Shane is also the founder of Echoes of Life LLC, an independent publishing company built around his commitment to thoughtful, emotionally resonant storytelling.
Now living in Georgia, Shane continues to embrace this chapter of his life with the belief that creativity has no expiration date, that meaningful stories can emerge at any age, and that it is never too late to pursue something extraordinary.
His mission is simple: To write words that make people feel, stories that make people think, and books that remind us what it means to be human.
