About

Heather C. Morris is the award-winning author of multiple stories for kids – fiction, nonfiction, picture books, and middle grade – including Trunk Goes Thunk! (A 2025 SCBWI Crystal Kite Honor Book, a 2025 Baker’s Dozen selection and a 2025 Keystone to Reading Preschool List Nominee), a ghost story in the Haunted States of America Anthology (Godwin Books/Macmillan, 2024), and two more forthcoming picture books, Backyard Stew (2026) and Dribble, Shoot, Swish (2027). She is an active member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) and has written seven titles for the educational market.

  • 2025 Baker's Dozen Selection for Trunk Goes Thunk! The Pennsylvania Center for the Book’s Baker’s Dozen: Thirteen Best Books for Family Literacy is a nationwide, annual initiative to screen over 1,000 picture books each year with the goal of identifying the top thirteen books that support family literacy program goals and are suited to the interests and developmental characteristics of children between three and six years of age.
