Kristy Alpert is an award-winning freelance travel writer with bylines in The New York Times, Esquire, Travel + Leisure, CN Traveler, Cosmopolitan, Men’s Health, TIME, Food & Wine, AFAR, Global Traveler, Fodor’s Travel, and more. She was previously a lifestyle editor at Cosmopolitan magazine and has authored two children's travel books with Happy Fox Books. Kristy has visited all seven continents—paid rent on three—and takes far too much pride in her spice cabinet, which includes juniper berries from Norway, cardamom from Nepal, and a prized ras el hanout from Morocco. She grew up on an airplane as the daughter of an airline pilot and is now married to an Air Force pilot.
