About
I've been a singer/songwriter since the age of 12 (1963). I was the first person to sign on as a journalist for Performing Songwriter Magazine, with articles over my eleven-year tenure quoted in periodicals worldwide and as part of the Grokster and Napster suits). I was also one of the first female writers for The Advocate, have had a handful of short stories published in books and magazines released by traditional publishers. "Society's Child: My Autobiography" was originally published by Tarcher/Random House, but rights were returned to me last year and it is now self-published (by choice). A children's book I co-created with illustrators Ingrid and Dieter Schubert was published by Lemniscaat; I created and edited a collection of short fantasy and science fiction stories based on my own work by established authors ("Stars", originally published by DAW).
I have an extremely active Facebook page that takes up too much of my time, give occasional master classes at universities, colleges, festivals, and other institutions, have lectured extensively about what it is to be an artist, and am very concerned about AI and its effect on the various industries I've worked in.
I've narrated a bunch of audio books and really enjoy it; won a Grammy for narrating my own autobiography, a very surprising upset.
My goal in life, from the time I was around three years old, was to be a musician and writer.
I'm an omnivorous reader, I love words, and I'm very happy to support the Authors Guild.
