About
Dr. I. Caroline Crocker is the author or coauthor of sixteen books, including her award-winning World War II series. Caroline lives with her husband, Richard, and is the mother of four and grandmother of nine.
Featured Work
The Truth Was Different: One Woman's Journey Through Occupied Holland
What if everything you believed about someone was wrong?
For most of her life, Caroline assumed that her grandmother, Rita, was a cold-hearted woman whose self-centered choices had wounded her family. Then she began investigating.
Drawing on archives, interviews, family documents, and Rita’s own books, Caroline uncovered a very different story: a half-Jewish mother navigating extreme trauma and impossible choices while living under German occupation.
The Truth Was Different is both a compelling true story and an exploration of family, memory, and the uncomfortable distance between what we’re told and what really happened.
