About

Sara Fashandi is an author and speaker whose memoirs explore immigration, resilience, family bonds, and the lasting impact of early sacrifice. Her acclaimed memoir Message in a Matchbox tells the true story of her oldest brother, a young boy growing up in 1950s in Tehran, Iran whose mother’s belief in education propels him toward an uncertain future in America. Message in a Matchbox has received finalist recognition and has been translated into Farsi.
Her forthcoming sequel, From Tehran to Tomorrow continues the journey, examining the emotional cost of separation, cultural displacement, and the long road toward belonging in a new country.
Sara has been invited to speak at libraries, women’s clubs, Rotary clubs, and literary events, including the Stockholm State Library. She lives in the United States and writes narrative nonfiction that preserves personal history while giving voice to immigrant experiences often left untold.
