About

I am a retired (2023) physician, specializing in diabetes care and education. I worked for 41 years at the Joslin Diabetes Center, part of Harvard Medical School, in Boston, MA. I did some clinical research early in my career, but most of my career was spent in patient and professional education focused on diabetes and related conditions, as well as an active clinial practice in adult diabetes. I was also Medical Director of Joslin's Continuing Medical Education department, running courses and seminars and developing written materials, guide books, etc. I also co-chaired the anual Harvard/Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital/Joslin Diabetes course for practicing physicins.
Now mostly retired (still doing some teaching and consulting), I am trying my hand at writing a mystery novel that is fiction but also illustrates for the lay-reader the process by which new pharmaceuticals are tested for safety and efficacy in human patients and adverse effects ("side" effects) are assessed for impact. This is currently a work in progress.
