About
Sam Shea is a cartoonist, illustrator, and writer currently based in Boston, MA. She’s also been known to make a costume or two.
Sam graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art with a minor in Creative Writing from the University of Arkansas — Fort Smith in 2023. In 2025, she earned her Master of Arts in Visual Narrative from Boston University. Under the tutelage of professional artists like Joel Christian Gill, Cathy G. Johnson, and Paul Karasik, the art of comics has been embedded into her very being.
She most enjoys writing, reading, and watching fantasy, romance, mystery, and horror. Her free time is spent as a hobbyist fashion historian with an interest in the 16th to late 19th centuries. Sam frequents comics shows, expos, and conventions as much as she can, and she’s excited to explore the world of comics in the future.
Her favorite comic book superhero is Batman, and her favorite book is The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller. If she had to die on a hill about something, it'd be that the Oxford comma is required punctuation.
