Steve Israel is the only Member of Congress to leave the Hill (voluntarily) and open an independent bookshop. His most recent novel, The Einstein Conspiracy, is an historic thriller about Einstein’s efforts to warn FDR about Nazi Germany’s atomic bomb research. While in Congress, he published two critically acclaimed political satires, The Global War on Morris and Big Guns. essays and commentary appear frequently in The NY Times, Washington Post, The Atlantic, and the major cable news platforms. He owns Theodore’s Books, a small Indy bookshop in Oyster Bay, NY, near the home of former President Theodore Roosevelt (who also wrote a few good books).
