About

Scott Catey, PhD, JD, is a writer, editor, broadcaster, and media producer whose work explores the intersection of story, creativity, culture, and the ways we make meaning.

Over a career spanning writing, broadcasting, scholarship, and consulting, he has worked with many artists and cultural figures including B.B. King, Carlos Santana, George Carlin, Graeme Edge, Leo Kottke, Robyn Hitchcock, Earl Slick, and others. He is the creator and host of The Sum of All Wisdom, a podcast and media platform featuring long-form conversations with musicians, writers, and other master craftspeople about creativity, attention, experience, and the ideas that shape their work.

As a writer, ghostwriter, and editor, Scott specializes in memoir, narrative nonfiction, and collaborative storytelling, helping authors discover the structure, voice, and deeper significance within their experiences. His approach draws on his background in ethnography, history, law, and nearly two decades in radio, as well as a lifelong engagement with music and performance.

Whether behind a microphone or working with a manuscript, Scott is interested in the same fundamental question: how do we transform the raw material of a life—memory, experience, conversation, and observation—into stories that matter?
