About

I began my journalism career as assistant to Forbes magazine’s economics editor, and became a reporter in the DC bureau until I went back to New York City to become editor of Business Times, a daily half-hour, syndicated public radio show (similar in format to Marketplace). Later I moved to Palo Alto, CA to help management guru Tom Peters launch a newsletter, and after four years I helped launch Family Business magazine, then based in the Berkshires. Since then I’ve been freelancing, writing articles, authoring and co-authoring several books (including “Kids and Money: Giving Them the Savvy to Succeed Financially” (Bloomberg Press) and “Kids, Wealth, and Consequences” (John Wiley) and Nathan’s Famous: An Unauthorized View of America’s Favorite Frankfurter Company (Morgan James). I’ve also enjoyed ghostwriting more than a dozen books, covering various aspects of business as well as memoirs, and developmental editing several other books, including “Great Bones: Taking Control of Your Osteoporosis.”

I’ve also written four novels, unpublished as yet, and several kids’ books that I self published as a pandemic project:
Dog Days of Summer: Fun with Cliches!
and
Funny Money: More Fun with Cliches!

Throughout, I’ve penned hundreds of poems and recently launched my poetry Substack (www.jpwriter.substack.com).
