About
I spent twenty years in corporate America, most recently at Google, before an unexpected layoff pushed me to finally explore the technology I had been avoiding. What started as confusion turned into curiosity, and eventually into my first book about learning AI in real time.
I am a first generation Kenyan American from the San Francisco East Bay, now living in New York City. I run TealBridge, where I consult with organizations, and TealVoice, where I create stories that bring people together. My next project is The Dating Mosaic podcast, launching in 2026.
When I am not writing or building something new, I am usually with my dog Champ, who is terrified of butterflies but fearless on escalators.

Out of the Loop, Into the Algorithm: How I Finally Made Friends with AI
When former Googler Wanjiku Kamau was laid off in the middle of an AI revolution, she realized she’d been helping build a technology she barely understood. Determined to make sense of it, she turned her own career upheaval into a personal experiment: Could someone outside Silicon Valley’s inner circle learn to make peace with the machines?
Part memoir, part field guide, Out of the Loop, Into the Algorithm explores burnout, reinvention, and the human side of artificial intelligence with clarity and heart. Written for anyone who has ever felt left behind by technology, it’s a story about curiosity, courage, and what it means to find your footing in a world that won’t stop changing.
