Angela Cervantes is the award-winning children’s author of several popular children's novels including Lety Out Loud, which won a 2020 Pura Belpré Honor Award from the American Library Association.

Additionally, Ms. Cervantes collaborated with American Girl Dolls for the novel Maritza: Lead With Your Heart, which features American Girl’s first contemporary Mexican-American doll, Maritza Ochoa. Her next book with American Girl which will be launched next week is the highly anticipated 2026 Girl Of The Year: Raquel Reyes!

Ms. Cervantes also collaborated with Disney/Pixar to write the junior novelizations for animated films, Coco and Encanto.

Her short stories have been featured in Chicken Soup for The Latino Soul and the Young Adult anthology Beyond Borders: Growing Up Mexican in America.

Ms. Cervantes began writing stories when growing up in Topeka, Kansas because she wanted books that reflected her Mexican American and Latino community. Today, she’s sold over a million books and writes from her home in Shawnee, Kansas.
Her upcoming projects include a World Cup themed mystery novel titled “The Mystery of The Stolen World Cup Trophy” which releases right before the 2026 Men’s World Cup Tournament. Angela’s most recent book Anomalies 53: Into the Shadows is a fantasy adventure series with Harper Collins Publishers and is on bookshelves now.
