Yvette J. Green lives in the DC metro area. She is an educator with over 20 years experience at both the high school and college levels. Yvette’s writing explores culture, travel, family, inheritances, and mental health challenges. A freelance writer, essayist, memoirist, and poet, Yvette experiments with form and often weaves verse into her creative nonfiction.

Yvette is a graduate of Xavier University of Louisiana and University of Maryland, College Par. She is an alum of Tin House’s Winter Workshop. Yvette’s poetry can be found in 45th Parallel, The Mark Literary Review, Silk + Smoke, among others. Her creative nonfiction has been featured in Salon, Slate, Viator, midnight & indigo, MUTHA Magazine, Brevity Blog, and anthologies Seasons of Our Lives-Winter: Stories from WomensMemoirs.com, and Mama, Martyr and Jezebels: Myths, Legends, and Other Lies You’ve Been Told about Black Women.
