April Thompson is a Washington, DC-based writer, educator, gardener, naturalist and foodie- forager.
Working as a freelance writer for 30 years, April has covered food, travel, sustainability, gardening, and
foraging other topics for a variety of publications, and publishes a monthly foraging and travel
newsletter called The Wild Life. April has taught workshops on foraging for the USDA National
Arboretum, Knowledge Commons DC, Rooting DC, Shop Made in DC, reDelicious and other
organizations. She is vice president of the Mycological Association of Washington, a founding member of
Bruce Monroe Community Garden, and a DC Master Gardener and Master Naturalist. She has been
featured or interviewed in numerous publications on foraging, including WTOP, WAMU, Washingtonian
magazine, Mushroom People Vol II, City Cast DC, Washington Gardener podcast, and DCist.
