About

Born on Hollywood’s illustrious Sunset Blvd., Marina Muhlfriedel is a true Angeleno and creative omnivore. After an adventure-filled, only-in-LA youth, she began her professional writing career penning music reviews for the Daily Trojan at USC, then became the entertainment editor of ‘TEEN Magazine — interviewing and traveling with actors and rock stars of every variety. While at ‘TEEN, she started Backstage Pass, playing keyboards in the pioneering LA girl band pivotal to establishing Hollywood’s iconic punk club, The Masque.

In 1979, Marina emerged as one of the first female synthesizer players. She co-founded Vivabeat, a groundbreaking techno-pop band championed by music legend Peter Gabriel, who secured their record deal. In the mid-’80s, Marina veered into film production, contributing to The War of the Roses, Throw Momma from the Train, and numerous other projects before switching to screenwriting. Since then, she has published poetry, blog posts, essays, interviews, and every variation of client work.

Marina recently completed her memoir, Born on Sunset, and writes for The Tai Chi Foundation. She performs at storytelling shows and hosts the rock ‘n’ roll storytelling show Our Lips Unsealed.
