About
I began creative writing almost as soon as I could hold a pencil.
I had a 45-year career as a writer and editor for news media--from local papers to big-city press to magazines. I also co-authored a book on being a single father.
Since retirement, I have published three gay romance novels, all set in contemporary times and dealing with real-world issues. (That's the influence of a news career.) But I have many other projects, from non-fiction to Afrofuturism, that I am also pursuing. As a Black man, almost all my work is BIPOC with strong, diverse characters.
I have three adult children, all college-educated and living on their own. I live in Chicago with my husband--no pets because we didn't want to be tied to their schedules. But I do love dogs.

Love Gods Magic: The Black Pharaoh
When Archie met Brandon, it looked like the beginning of a college romance: sweet, sexy, and simple. But Archie has a secret. He is Taharqa, a member of an ancient people, the Nubians, who are working clandestinely to revive their empire and change the world with the magic of rare earth metals. When the young men finally team up to pursue their stratagem, they are soon caught up in an international conflict to see who might gain access to basic elements that have become basic needs for technology's future.
Yes, there is sex along with adventures including a trip up the Nile, a secret ceremony to turn a man into a god, and a race across Rome. And have you ever wondered what it would be like to make love with a pharaoh?
