About
Elissa Bass was born into a family of journalists and writers, which made dinnertime interesting. After a long and award-winning career in Connecticut journalism, she started her own communications business, continuing to tell others’ stories while attending her two kids’ high school soccer and basketball games. These days she freelances, works on her next novel, teaches journalism at the University of Connecticut and thinks about ice cream. She lives in southeastern Connecticut with her journalist husband and texts memes to her now grown children every day.

Happy Hour

KK Rhinehart has been so physically, mentally and emotionally wrecked by menopause that when she discovers an unfamiliar iPhone filled with secrets under the driver’s seat in her husband’s car, she doesn’t fight for her 25-year marriage. She gives up, retreating to her family’s Cape Cod summer beach house in the off-season. But her two siblings and two closest friends won’t allow her to quit. Add to that the interest of Jay, a much younger bartender and surfer, and KK starts to find her way back to life. Of course, not before there’s hot yoga shenanigans, karaoke, Tik Tok drama, heartbreaking loss, and a whole lot of kitchen dancing.
