Lloyd J. Jassin is a publishing attorney and co-author of The Copyright Permission & Libel Handbook (John Wiley & Sons). His practice includes drafting and negotiating book publishing and entertainment industry contracts, vetting manuscripts for defamation and privacy issues, copyright counseling, trademark search and registration, and general business and legal advice for authors and other creators, and their publisher and producer partners. Before becoming an attorney, he was Director of Publicity for Prentice Hall Press and the Simon & Schuster General Reference Group. He is a member of the advisory board of The Beacon Press, America's oldest continuing operating independent publisher.
