A lingering spirit lives in the Vinley estate, a spirit left over from the Lavendar War, when the invading Henrelian forces were pushed out of Celucia. Sam Vinley knows about this vengeful spirit, and he knows it still wages a war that ended long ago. The boy’s homeland bears the invisible and cosmic scars of past agonies.
