I am a lawyer, law professor, writer, and commentator whose work focuses on human rights, civil liberties, national security, and media bias. I am a regular contributor to the Toronto Star and have a column in the Indian daily Madhyamam. My work also appears frequently in Al Jazeera, Newsweek, Middle East Eye, Zeteo, and various other publications. I regularly write on issues of free speech, global justice, Middle East affairs, Islam and Muslims, and the legal and ethical implications of contemporary conflicts. His forthcoming memoir, Son of an Imam: A Journey Through Belief and Disbelief, explores faith, identity, and the challenges of navigating multiple worlds.

I am a Professor of Law at Southwestern Law School, Affiliate Faculty at Rutgers University’s Center for Security, Race and Rights, and Associate Professor of Law Emeritus at Valparaiso University. I also serve on the steering committees of the Islamophobia Research Hub at York University and the Criminal Justice Center for Advocacy, Research, and Education at the University of Regina.

I have been recognized for his contributions to legal scholarship and advocacy, including being listed in The Muslim 500 for over 15 years as one of the most influential Muslims globally. He is also active in legal education and public discourse, frequently providing commentary on law, politics, and civil rights.
