I am co-editor of KAKALAK ANTHOLOGY OF POETS & ARTISTS, a multiple Pushcart nominee in fiction and in poetry, winner of the Poetry Society of SC John Edward Johnson Prize, winner of NC Writers’ Network Randall Jarrell Poetry Competition, finalist for both the NC Poetry Society Poet Laureate Award and the Broad River Review Ron Rash Poetry Award. I am delighted to have four new poems featured in Soul Forte under the heading "Lamentations Witnessed by Samplings."

I am a former professor of architectural and landscape history. I have also been an advocate for unhoused families and abused children. Now I read poetry to the dying through hospice and facilitate hospice grief writing workshops that include found poems, nature rituals, and my homemade gingerbread. My passions include growing sunflowers with cow manure and talking with the ghosts of my dead cats, Alice B. Toklas and Thomas Merton.
