About
Shaun Loftus is the founder of The BookWhisperer, a full-service independent publishing agency based in Tuscany, Italy. She has worked in independent publishing since 2017, managing upwards of eighty titles a year across a roster that includes debut writers, mid-list authors, and authors earning well into six figures from their catalogues.
Her background is in theater — she holds a degree in acting and directing and has worked as a playwright — and it shows in how she thinks about books: as objects designed for a specific reader, not just manuscripts to be processed. That orientation toward the reader informs everything from cover design decisions to metadata strategy.
The BookWhisperer handles the full production and marketing lifecycle: editing, covers, formatting, metadata, distribution, advertising, and launch support. The agency works across several genres, with particular depth in historical fiction, military thriller, and genre fiction more broadly.
Shaun's view of the work is straightforward: an author's job is to write the next book. Everything else is logistics, and logistics can be managed.
