Richard Poirier graduated 1976 Summa Cum Laude from Boston University, College of Business Administration and College of Communication majoring in accounting and journalism with a minor concentration in philosophy. He received a Highest Honors Diploma in English Law and Comparative Law, City of London College, England, and studied entertainment law at UCLA. In 1986 he founded a business management and talent management firm in Los Angeles representing musicians, models and actors. In 1996, he was a U.S. congressional candidate. Currently he is Senior Director, Royalty Audits at Universal Music Group. He has been published in magazines: "CSQ C-Suite Quarterly," "Clive Davis: The Man with the Platinum Ear"; guest columnist "Of Rights and Unintended Consequences," "California Political Review;" and contributed to Donald S. Passman’s book “All You Need to Know About the Music Business,” Simon and Schuster as well as numerous newspaper commentaries. He is a writer with a deep interest in human nature. Currently he is almost at the completion of a non-fiction book entitled “In Defense of Individuality.” It addresses the question of whether anyone can be an individual since they are constantly bombarded with social inputs. He argues they can. It also explores what people think and how they justify their choices and behavior. He resides in Los Angeles, CA.
