About

Sarah Flocken is an upmarket fiction author. She is also a public relations professional, comedian, improviser, and pun contest host (yes, it’s a thing).

Sarah’s poetry, essays, and short stories were published in school literary journals throughout her teen and early adult years. After that, she turned her attention to building a career in public relations, where she’s written millions of words for other people in the form of op-eds, speeches, press releases, whitepapers, sponsored articles, talking points, Senate floor remarks, and more. She is currently the owner and principal of SLH Communications, a PR consultancy in San Diego, California.

She never gave up on writing for pleasure and laughter, though. Outside of her day job, Sarah has written short plays, sketch comedy and stand-up routines for over 10 years, including a run with the Edinburgh Revue at the 2011 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Additionally, she is a member of the Women’s Fiction Writers Association. She currently performs with two improv comedy groups in San Diego, and hosts Pundemonium! San Diego’s Only Pun Competition.

Sarah received her bachelor’s degree in English and Comparative Literary Studies from Occidental College in Los Angeles, and a master’s in Literature & Modernity: 1900-Present from the University of Edinburgh in Edinburgh, Scotland. She lives in San Diego, California, with her husband and their beloved golden retriever, Norah.
