About
I am a writer, editor, and translator from Lake Charles, Louisiana. My published works have appeared in The Guardian, ELLE, Condé Nast Traveler, Oxford American, The Nation, Longreads, and many more print and digital newspapers and magazines throughout the years. I have also worked in an editorial capacity with Gato Negro Ediciones, the Object Lessons series by Bloomsbury Academic, Columbia University Press, and the New Orleans Museum of Art.
I am currently writing a collection of essays about Louisiana's culture and the impact of climate change on the patrimony of the state.
Featured Work
Great American Wasteland
Published by Longreads with support from the International Women's Media Foundation, "Great American Wasteland" is the result of over a year's worth of investigative reporting about the neglect of Lake Charles and Cameron Parish, Louisiana and surrounding communities on behalf of the federal and state government in the aftermath of Hurricanes Laura and Delta, a thousand years' flood, and an ice storm, all concurrent between 2020 and 2021. The piece also reflects on the impact of industry on the ongoing degradation of the coast, the sense of cultural continuity between new and existing residents, and the likelihood of future disasters as a result of climate change.
