Dr Jessica Boehman (Humanities/ Fine Arts) earned her MA from Penn State ('02) and her PhD in Art History from UPenn ('09), specializing in Italian 17th-century sculpture. She is a full professor at CUNY LaGuardia Community College, where she teaches both art history and illustration, her two fields of specialty. Her most recent art historical article, "Cafà's Rose of Lima as Effigy" investigated the reception of one of the early Italian Baroque sculptures to land in the New World. She has also illustrated two books for children. Her first, The Lions at Night, won the IPPY Gold Medal for picture books in 2020. Her second, Cafè Au Lait: A Story of NF1 and My Special Spots, was made for the Children's Tumor Foundation. She is currently working on her next illustrated book pitches.
