About

After graduating from Michigan State University with a degree in journalism I spent a few years with the Marietta (Georgia) Daily Journal and Today newspapers as a sportswriter/editor before starting a forty-plus year career in automotive public relations. Upon retirement I started writing books. My first, "Black Noon, the Year They Stopped the Indy 500" about the lives of two drivers killed in the 1964 race was published by Thomas Dunne Books/St. Martin's Press. It was named book of the year by the Los Angeles Motor Press Guild and was short-listed in 2015 for the PEN/ESPN award for literary sports writing. I've also been involved in self-publishing two books, "Indy 500 Memories, An Oral History of the Greatest Spectacle in Racing" and "Hood to Coast Memories" about the running relay race from Mr. Hood in Oregon to the Pacific Coast. My new book, volume one of "A.J. Foyt: Survivor, Champion, Legend" will be published Octane Press and has an October 2024 release date.
