About the Service

I'm available for freelance writing, copyediting, proofreading, abridging/adapting, and editorial project management. Areas of expertise: wildlife, conservation, animals, primatology, biology. I have a bachelors in anthropology/primatology and a masters in conservation biology.

I have more than 20 years experience in the publishing industry. As an audiobook abridger, I have adapted more than 100 (fiction and nonfiction) books for audio. Clients include Hachette Audio, Audio Renaissance/Macmillan Audio, Brilliance Audio, Harper Audio, Audio Partners, Soundelux. Authors whose books I've abridged include Janet Evanovich, James Patterson, Michael Crichton, Stephen J. Cannell, J.D. Robb, Candace Bushnell, Mary Kay Andrews, Elizabeth Lowell, Jane Heller, Iris Johansen, Fern Michaels, Elizabeth George, Daniel Goleman, Marcia Willett, Heather Graham, John Gray, Al Gore, Sara Paretsky, and Lisa Gardner. My article about audiobook abridging, "To Make a Long Story Short," appeared in the March 2006 issue of Writer's Digest magazine. While abridging is a dying (or dead) art, I am equally adept at adaptating existing material and writing original copy. I was a contributing writer for the podcast BiodiverCity.

Freelance writing includes articles for Muse, Zoo View, Sunshine, Movie Marketplace, Writer's Digest, Jack and Jill, and Children's Digest magazines. A list of proofreading clients is available upon request.
