An award-winning journalist with decades of writing and media experience, I nearly flunked college due to its rigorous writing requirement (and undiagnosed ADHD). So, I'm infinitely grateful to the professors and, later, editors who tortured me with the high standards that molded me into the writer I am today.
Being diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder late in life was a defining moment that fundamentally improved how I live in this world of neurotypical people. I have been volunteering with several disability nonprofits including serving on the board of directors for a Center for Independent Living. I focus my writing and photography work on disability issues.
My work has appeared in national and regional magazines and daily newspapers including the Christian Science Monitor, Narratively, Montana Quarterly, Mountain Outlaw, Bitterroot Magazine, Mushing, Mainebiz, Cattle Business Weekly, Fine Art Connoisseur, Outside Bozeman, Bozeman Daily Chronicle and the Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram. I've also produced feature pieces for Maine Public Radio's Maine Things Considered and have been interviewed about the importance of local media on KGVM radio.
Copywriting and editing clients include Intuit, eHow, The Rhodes Trust, Bozeman Health, Huffington Post and The World Bank.
A graduate of the Solutions Journalism Network's mentorship program, I also hold active memberships with ACES - the society for editing, and I am the Montana regional advisor for the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators.
