Hi there! I'm Raquel Brown, and I help authors create enchanting, epic, and eerie stories.

I primarily edit Fantasy, Romantasy, Sci-Fi, and Horror stories. I especially love working on novels, LitRPGs, and interactive fiction. I've edited for traditional publishers, self-publishing authors, indie presses, and I'm also part of the copyediting team for Strange Horizons, an award-winning SFF magazine.
As far as my background, I'm an alumna of the University of Chicago's graduate-level Editing program with a specialization in Developmental Editing. I'm on the board of directors for the San Diego Professional Editors Network, and a member of ACES, HWA, and the SFWA. I'm a Revise & Resub (RevPit) editor, and I work with CritiqueMatch. Before shifting to full-time fiction editing, I spent years in technical writing/editing, and I have background in environmental science.
I strive to empower every author I work with, and I encourage other BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and multicultural authors to feel confident approaching me with their stories. You can feel secure during the revision process knowing that you're working with an editor who supports the perspectives and ideas you bring to your writing.
