About the Service

My services include helping you:

  • determine whether your subject lends itself to a biography
  • write and refine your proposal and sample chapter(s)
  • decide whether you do best to approach a trade or university press
  • craft a pitch letter
  • make the most of your time in archives
  • develop useful interviewing techniques
  • organize and write your manuscript (structural and copyediting)

My rate is $90/hour, which includes time spent reading and commenting on documents, emailing, and speaking with you on the phone.

We would normally begin with a one-hour phone call during which you can tell me where you are with your project and what kind of help you need.
