Founded in Chicago in 2006, and now based in Madison, Wisconsin, Second City Publishing Services has its roots in both the New York and Chicago publishing worlds. We offer a full array of services including literary representation and consulting. We currently represent authors in most genres of non-fiction as well as select fiction (primarily mystery), and support our authors before, during, and after their books are published. For authors who have chosen to publish independently, Second City Publishing Services offers complete editorial services.
Whether publishing commercially or independently, we work closely with our clients to develop, manage and grow their publishing careers. Please visit our website (secondcitypublishing.com) for information about representation, submitting a query, or coaching and consulting services.
Before founding Second City Publishing Services, Cynthia Zigmund spent more than twenty years in New York and Chicago publishing including positions at John Wiley & Sons, Inc., and Irwin Professional Publishing (now McGraw-Hill). In 1996, Cynthia joined Dearborn Trade Publishing (now Kaplan Publishing) as executive editor; she was promoted to editorial director six months later, and named vice president and publisher in 2000. During her ten years with Kaplan, Cynthia expanded the organization's program beyond real estate and finance to include business and architecture. Under her leadership, the company released several business bestsellers and became a leading business book publisher. Cynthia holds a business degree from Monmouth University in New Jersey where she graduated summa cum laude.
